Beineu - Shymkent Gas Pipeline LLP  is a joint venture between KazTransGas JSC and Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Limited Company, with equal participation of Kazakhstan and China which was founded in 2011 for the construction of Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline.

Description of the project

Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline is the largest pipeline project over the history of independent Kazakhstan and is entitled to play an important role in increasing the energy safety of the country. A gas pipeline with a capacity of up to 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and a pipe diameter of 1067 mm was built in two stages. The first phase was completed in 2013. The second - in 2016. Its length was 1475 kilometers. The cost of the construction project amounted to 3.6 billion US dollars. About 3,800 people took part in the construction of the pipeline, 90% of them are Kazakhstani specialists. The work was carried out by a group of companies of KazTransGas JSC. The gas pipeline was commissioned 5 months ahead of schedule in November 2015. [1]

Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent pipeline is the strategic project aimed at the provision of the South of Kazakhstan with the local natural gas, as well as widening of export capabilities of the country. This allowed the gasification of 577 settlements, 230 of which are located in the South Kazakhstan region. Half of them were never gasified, and the second half received gas from Uzbekistan via the Gazli-Shymkent gas pipeline. With the launch of the new pipeline, South Kazakhstan was able to completely switch to domestic gas. [2]

In the near future, three high-tech compressor stations will be commissioned, which will increase the throughput of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent gas pipeline from 10 billion to 15 billion cubic meters of gas per year. This will increase the export of Kazakhstani gas only to China to 10 billion cubic meters, and will bring the country more than $ 2 bln per year. [3]

In 2018, the pipeline was selected as the main source of raw materials for the Saryarka gas pipeline to the north of the country along the route Kyzylorda - Zhezkazgan - Karaganda - Temirtau - Astana.[4]
