COFCO Group (China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation)  is a state-owned company founded in 1949. It has become a leading supplier of agri-products with grain, oil, sugar, and cotton forming their core business. The company is heavily invested in the grain industries in Kazakhstan and has offices in Almaty and Astana. COFCO has the leading edge in the Chinese market and is well positioned to take its first steps as an international agribusiness currently working in over 140 countries and regions of the world. It has global coverage of grain and oil producing areas and owns a sophisticated global production and procurement platform and trade network.

Description of the project

In 2016 COFCO Group has expressed its interest in cooperation with “Eurasia Agro Holding” LLP to invest $80 million towards the construction of several tomato paste and processing facilities across West Kazakhstan region, East Kazakhstan region, and Kyzylorda Region, for the purpose of meeting the growing demand for tomato based products. [1] The financial portions of the project have been agreed upon and the project’s development strategy has been developed. When completed, each plant will employ more than one-thousand people. The product will be produced with the intention to export to China and Europe. [2] The facilities will have a tomato paste production capacity of 4,000 MTs per day.[3]
